The supplementary joint venture agreement between NTPC, India’s largest integrated energy company, and government enterprise Nuclear power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) is for the development of six 700 MWe Pressurized Heavy-Water Reactors (PHWRs) across two sites. The country’s demand for energy is growing rapidly, and this requires a corresponding increase in generation capacity, in compliance with eco-sustainability and renewable energy targets, stated Minister of Power and New & Renewable Energy RK Singh.
