An outbreak of a mysterious disease has been reported in the poultry farms of Telangana, Konnur, Madanapuram Mandal, Wanaparthy district, resulting in the death of approximately 2,500 chickens within three days. This information was confirmed by K. Venkateshwar, the District Veterinary and Zootechnical Officer of Wanaparthy. Officials from the District Department of Veterinary and Zootechnics have inspected the site and have collected samples for subsequent laboratory testing. Concurrently, neighbouring Andhra Pradesh has reported cases of avian influenza, which have necessitated the culling of a substantial number of hens to prevent the further transmission of the virus. The authorities in Telangana are closely monitoring the situation to ascertain whether the mortality of poultry is attributable to avian influenza or another as yet unidentified cause.
