What happened

Recent findings have revealed five new cases of African Swine Fever (ASF) in Italy, bringing the total number of cases to 1,746 since the onset of the emergency. All of these new cases have been documented in Piedmont: one in the province of Alessandria in Arquata Scrivia (where the total number of cases stands at 23); four in the province of Novara: three in Cerano (where the total number of cases now stands at six), and one in Trecate (the first case among wild boars, and the third if also considering pig farms). The total number of cases in the region has now reached 696. No new outbreaks were reported in pig farms in Piedmont, and no new positivity was detected in Liguria, leaving the regional total at 1,050 cases.
