According to the WHO African Region Weekly Bulletin on Outbreak and other Emergencies: Week 07: 10 – 16 February 2025, in the context of the ongoing epidemiological surveillance, a noteworthy development has been reported in northern Bujumbura, Burundi, during the period of 10-16 February 2025. Specifically, two new cases of cholera have been documented, marking an increase in the cumulative total of cases to 2,340 since the onset of epidemiological surveillance on 1 January 2023. This figure includes 12 reported deaths. The epidemic, declared in January 2023 by the Ministry of Health, affected fourteen districts, in some of which outbreaks have persisted for the last four weeks.
