According to sources within the Taliban government, a suicide bomber detonated explosives in the vicinity of a government building in Kabul, resulting in one fatality and three injuries. The attacker blew himself up after being shot by security forces as he attempted to enter the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing in the Afghan capital, Interior Ministry spokesman Abdul Mateen Qani told AFP. As stated by an anonymous medical practitioner from Kabul’s Emergency Hospital, who was interviewed by the AFP news agency, the wounded were conveyed to the medical facility to receive treatment following the detonation. This incident marks the second attack this week, following an earlier incident in which a suicide bomber detonated explosives attached to his body outside a bank in northeast Afghanistan, resulting in the deaths of at least five individuals. Although no group has claimed responsibility for the above attack, the militant group ISIL (ISIS) has been responsible for similar bombings since the return of the Taliban to power.
