According to the Director General of Police (DGP) of Jammu and Kashmir, six terrorists, including an entire family, were working on the instructions of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and providing logistical support to the terrorists. At least five soldiers were killed and another injured when an army truck was ambushed on 20 April. According to official sources, police arrested 221 suspects after the attack. Six were formally arrested in the Thannamandi area, where Security Forces were searching for the attackers. The arrested family allegedly assisted the terrorists by providing them with food, water and other services. They also received a consignment sent by drone from Pakistan containing money, arms, ammunition and grenades.
