What happened

A report from a Libyan government source said that Adel Jumua, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs in the Government of National Unity, survived an assassination attempt on 12 February. Unknown assailants opened fire on Minister Jumua’s vehicle as it drove along the Second Ring Road in Tripoli. At least 14 bullets were reportedly fired into the vehicle, two of which hit Minister Jumua in the legs. He was taken to Abu Salim Hospital and admitted to intensive care for emergency medical treatment. He is reported to be in a stable condition. The government has condemned the attack and the authorities have launched a major investigation to identify and apprehend the assailants.
