France will begin the construction of its next-generation nuclear aircraft carrier by 2026, with sea trials to start by 2037. French Armed Forces Minister, Sébastien Lecornu, has confirmed that the 2024-2030 Military Planning Law will include the construction of the PANG (Porte-Avions de Nouvelle Génération, New Generation Aircraft Carrier). The construction is scheduled to begin between the end of 2025 and the beginning of 2026.
The upcoming vessel is anticipated to be larger than the current flagship of the French Navy. It will be fitted with two nuclear steam generators, which will have a combined power of 450 MW.
