What happened

A property management company called ‘Ena Spa’ has revealed that 5% of condominiums in the city of Milan have levels of Salmonella and Legionella in their water systems that exceed the legal limits. This information was revealed after the company carried out water quality checks in 450 condominiums that it manages in the city. In instances where contamination was identified, the company initiated remediation and monitoring interventions, proposing the installation of automatic disinfection devices where such devices were not present to implement a prevention policy. The recent Italian legislation about water healthfulness stipulates an obligation on the part of the condominium administrator to control water systems. This obligation is to ensure that the values of the water quality parameters in the condominium are maintained from the point of delivery of the public network to the point of use, i.e. taps, showers, or other terminals. To avoid the risk of contamination, it is necessary to carry out regular periodic checks on the quality of the water, to keep the documents certifying compliance with the regulations updated, and to inform the condominiums of the measures adopted to guarantee the healthiness of the systems. These comments were made by Vincenzo Acunto, CEO of ‘Ena Spa.’
