What happened

According to a recent press release, Morocco’s Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ), in conjunction with the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), disrupted a terrorist plot on 26 January in Had Soualem, a town in Berrechid province. Counter-terrorism forces raided two local residences and arrested three brothers, aged 26, 29, and 31, and a fourth suspect, all of whom had pledged allegiance to the Islamic State (ISIS). Evidence was recovered from both locations, including chemical components, welding, and electronic equipment used in the assembly of improvised explosive devices. In addition, all four suspects recorded a video in which they pledged allegiance to ISIS, vowed to carry out terrorist attacks, and then travelled to ISIS camps in the Sahel region. Authorities also recovered photos and videos of potential targets selected by the suspects.
