What happened

According to media reports, four new positive cases of African Swine Fever (ASF) have been identified among wild boars in Liguria, all in the province of Genoa: one in Cicagna (third case), one in Isola del Cantone (18th case), and two in Sestri Levante (4th case). It brings the number of cases in the region to 1,048. The total number of positive cases in wild boars has reached 1,731, with 1,048 reported in Liguria and 683 in Piedmont. The outbreaks identified on pig farms remain at nine. In Piedmont, two new positive cases have been observed among wild boars: one in the province of Alessandria in Isola Sant’Antonio (the first case) and one in the province of Asti in Mombaruzzo (the fifth case). The number of municipalities in which at least one positive case of ASF has been observed thus rises to 169.
