What happened

With information provided by the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (GDTS) of Morocco, Police forces have arrested a man in Taourirt, a town in north-eastern Morocco, 100km west of the provincial capital Oujda. The detainee was accused of being an ISIS (also known by its Arabic acronym Daesh) sympathiser who worked as a teacher in Sidi Chafi, a village near Taourirt province. An ongoing investigation confirmed that the individual had previously sought instructions on how to obtain and make improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and intended to prepare a terrorist attack. Police searched his home for evidence and found bomb components and chemical materials, including vials of hydrochloric acid, hydrogen peroxide, and zinc sulphate. Edged weapons, mobile phones, and electronic devices were also collected and sent for forensic analysis. The Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ) has taken the suspect into custody and is identifying his list of terrorist targets and any links to possible accomplices.
