During a press conference attended by Swedish Defence Minister PÃ¥l Jonson, General Jonny Lindfors (Commander of the Swedish Armed Forces Land Component), and SAAB CEO Micael Johansson, it was revealed that Sweden is to conduct trials of a new software technology for the guidance of drone swarms. This technology has been developed by the technical bodies of the Ministry of Defence in Stockholm and the industrial group SAAB. This novel software is designed to facilitate the operation of drone swarms capable of performing Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions and autonomous target tracking through the utilisation of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The software is undergoing enhancements to ensure its impenetrability in the event of being shot down or captured by adversaries, while concurrently demonstrating adaptability to the requirements of the Swedish Armed Forces. The objective of the Swedish Ministry of Defence is to establish a system that can be implemented in substantial numbers, thereby enhancing the operational capabilities of the Armed Forces without compromising personnel resources, as it is distinguished by its efficiency and ease of use. The development of this technology was accomplished in an expedited timeframe, with approximately one year allocated for its development, in contrast to the four to five years typically allocated for such programs.
