What happened

Eufemia Bisaccia, director of the Public Health Department of the Reggio Emilia Local Health Authority, stated that 108,000 individuals have been vaccinated since the onset of the flu campaign. The figure significantly exceeds the total reached last year, when it concluded at 65,000. The majority of those who have chosen to receive the vaccination are elderly, over the age of 65, or frail. Among the 108,000 individuals who have received the vaccine, 72,000 are aged 65 and above, 20,000 are between the ages of 15 and 59, and 9,000 are between 60 and 64. The under-14 age group accounts for approximately 7,000. In total, 25,000 residents of Reggio Emilia have received the vaccine to combat the spread of the Coronavirus. Vaccination can be carried out by General Practitioners or Paediatricians, at the pharmacy or in local clinics. The doctor emphasises that the peak of the sick has not yet been reached, but there are currently no serious hospitalisations. According to expert estimates, the highest number of Reggio Emilia residents with the flu should be at the end of January.
