Ammonia leak in a company, one dead

An ammonia leak occurred inside the company’s engine room in the industrial area of Gricignano d’Aversa, in the Caserta province of Italy. The incident resulted in the death of a 19-year-old worker, an employee of an external company who was carrying out maintenance work. The leak occurred in a tank where four workers were carrying out maintenance work, three of whom managed to escape, while the victim remained trapped inside the structure. According to press sources, some workers were reportedly poisoned. The ammonia leak resulted in the development of a dense toxic cloud within the affected area, necessitating the evacuation of the surrounding area for safety reasons. Firefighters are currently engaged in securing the premises.
