In a hamlet of the Municipality of Gambolò, province of Pavia, Italy, 2,500 liters of LPG gas leaked from a tanker onto a private space. On-scene interventions were made by the Carabinieri, firefighters, and medical personnel. When highly flammable liquid propane gas was still present in the tanker, the Milan Nuclear, Biological, Chemical, and Radiological Unit (CBRN) had to step in. Two firefighters were rescued after becoming slightly unwell during the intervention. The accident appears to have been caused by a tank component rupturing. While the site is being cleaned up, about 200 residents in the accident-affected area have been temporarily relocated.
