What happened

A 27-year-old man was arrested by law enforcement authorities after approximately 20 kilograms of illicit barrels were found hidden inside a coffin at a funeral parlour in Taranto, Italy. After observing the young man’s behaviour around the funeral parlour, law enforcement officials intervened and arrested him. A subsequent search of the funeral establishment’s premises by the officers revealed that the young man had illegally concealed a large quantity of unlabelled homemade fireworks weighing approximately 20 kilograms in one of the coffins. The 27-year-old was immediately arrested and placed under house arrest. The explosive material was then taken over by the ‘Nucleo Artificieri’ (Bomb Disposal Unit) personnel, who were responsible for the subsequent destruction of the confiscated fireworks.
