What happened

In a recent statement, health pest control expert Khalid Bu Rshaid expressed concern about the unchecked spread of dangerous mosquito species in Bahrain. He says the kingdom is home to about four different types of insects linked to the spread of diseases such as dengue fever, Zika virus, and malaria. He notes that in recent years, increasingly high temperatures and humidity have contributed to the spread of these species and that local authorities have failed to take preventative measures to deal with the threat. He calls for the use of insecticides in areas with stagnant water and the implementation of similarly effective strategies, such as improving drainage and sewage systems. He also mentions the towns of Tubli Bay, Al Lawzi village, and Al Buhair district, where the problems mentioned above are the major cause of mosquito breeding. Bu Rshaid also underscored the pivotal role of collaborative efforts between ministers and local authorities in orchestrating mosquito control initiatives. Moreover, he advocated for prompt population awareness, emphasising that individuals must promptly seek healthcare guidance from authorised entities upon the onset of symptoms, thus facilitating effective management of the condition.
