IED explosion in Chhattisgarh, one dead

A 35-year-old resident of Kaushalnar village in Dantewada district, Bastar division of Chhattisgarh, India, was killed in an explosion of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) when he stepped on. The IED had been activated by a detonator, which was planted by cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist). The incident occurred while the individual was collecting wood in the forest of Kohkabeda, as reported by ‘The Times of India’. On the same day, in an operation conducted in the forest region between Poorti and Tekulagudem, situated within the Jagargunda Police Station area of Sukma District in the Bastar Division of Chhattisgarh, a total of sixteen cadres from the CPI-Maoist have been apprehended. A significant quantity of explosives was reportedly recovered from the cadres, suggesting that they were engaged in stockpiling with the intent to cause harm to security personnel. In the preceding days, a total of thirteen cadres from the CPI-Maoist were arrested by local law enforcement authorities, and explosives were confiscated during two distinct operations, according to the media.
