What happened

General Igor Kirillov, the commander of the Russian Armed Forces’ nuclear, chemical, and biological (CBRN) defence troops, was killed in a bomb blast in Moscow. Additionally, the officer’s assistant perished in the assault. This information was conveyed by TASS. The death was caused by the detonation of an explosive device concealed within an electric scooter. The attack occurred on Ryazansky Avenue, situated in the south-eastern region of Moscow, approximately 6.5 kilometres east of the Kremlin. The device at stake was estimated to contain approximately three hundred grams of explosive material, equivalent to TNT, and was purportedly operated remotely, as reported by media outlets in Moscow. The attack was claimed by the Ukrainian Security Services (SBU), a claim that was corroborated by an intelligence source and subsequently released to the AFP news agency. The Russian Investigative Committee has designated the attack as an act of terrorism, as reported by Interfax.
