What happened

The Monza Finance Police (Italian: Guardia di Finanza) confiscated four tonnes of fireworks from a maxi emporium in Monza, citing the absence of the requisite public safety licence. The incendiary devices were stored in a room devoid of protective systems, posing a significant explosive risk to surrounding structures. This discovery, resulting in the criminal seizure of the material, occurred during a special surveillance and tailing service conducted during the Christmas holiday period. Following the conclusion of the proceedings, the owner of the premises was directed to the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of Monza for the offence of unlawful possession of explosive material. This was undertaken as part of the wider initiative to combat the import and sale of pyrotechnic materials and goods that fail to comply with the safety standards set out in national and EU regulations.
