According to the RespiVirNet Report of the Italian Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS), seasonal influenza infections, including flu-like syndromes, are growing within the country with almost 1.8 million Italians already affected by viruses, and 417,600 new cases in the second week of November. Data provided by epidemiological surveillance reveal that children under five years of age are the most affected (with an incidence of 15.9 cases per thousand assisted) whereas Lombardy has the highest incidence of cases, with 8.89 cases per thousand assisted.
