What happened

A landmine explosion on the Maiduguri-Damboa road in Konduga Local Government Area, Borno State, has caused the death of at least seven loggers and injured many others. The incident occurred when a pickup truck carrying firewood sellers struck an improvised explosive device (IED), likely planted by Boko Haram insurgents. The vehicle was extensively damaged, and fatalities included the driver and six passengers. The victims’ remains were transported to the Sulumari area in Maiduguri, where a funeral was conducted according to Islamic rites.
