What happened

The Albanian National Medical Emergency Centre (NMEC) coordinated a training session in Tirana with the objective of strengthening medical capabilities in order to effectively respond to chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear incidents. The initiative, which spanned two days, consisted of a training programme delivered by the NMEC with the participation of ten nations from the Western Balkans and south-eastern Europe. The training event, conducted by Albanian NMEC personnel with the input of global experts, drew medical professionals from the University Hospitals of Tirana as well as representatives from regional hospitals and multiple neighbouring municipalities. In addition, representatives from the Institute of Public Health and the Radiation Protection Office participated actively, reflecting a commitment on the part of these institutions to strengthen national resilience against CBRN threats across a range of agencies. The activities culminated in a series of practical exercises conducted in Skënderbej Square, which also saw the active involvement of the Fire Brigade.
