The European Centre for Disaster Medicine (ECDM) played an active role in the Disarmament Week, an initiative of the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA), held in Vienna from 23 to 25 October 2024. This annual initiative is designed to facilitate the implementation of shared and comprehensive disarmament strategies through an interactive exhibition that encourages participants to contribute their expertise on salient issues such as nuclear weapons and new autonomous technologies. As the United Nations (UN) has emphasised, the implementation of effective arms control and non-proliferation measures is of paramount importance for the prevention of crises, the protection of civilians and the assurance of a sustainable future. In this way, the ECDM demonstrates its commitment to global disarmament efforts through public education, advocacy and collaboration with international partners.
