What happened

A 57-year-old male fatality resulted from an explosion in his residence, caused by a gas leak in Trinitapoli (Province of Barletta-Andria-Trani). According to reconstructions, the man had recently entered the kitchen, and, as he started a cooking device, a sudden and violent explosion occurred. The resulting shockwave propelled the victim out of the residence through a window. The victim’s wife, who was present in the residence at the time of the incident, did not sustain any injuries. The fire brigade called to assess the safety of the building and posited the possibility of a build-up of gas in the pipes as the probable cause of the explosion. The building has been evacuated until further notice for safety reasons. Comprehensive monitoring is being conducted across the entire area to prevent further potential risks.
