A 14-year-old has been arrested by the police of Digos Potenza and the Service for the Fight against Extremism and Terrorism from outside the Central Directorate of the Prevention Police on charges of participation in an association with the aim of international terrorism and subversion. An investigation revealed that the boy is actively engaged in creating and disseminating content in support of the Islamic State (IS). Additionally, he has viewed videos depicting suicide attacks conducted by minors, and he is the proprietor of two Telegram groups, one of which has been utilized to assemble a network of IS supporters in Italy and another for the advancement of an IS-controlled territory in Italy. The findings of a personal, local, home, and computer search substantiated the 14-year-old’s culpability, including his intention to undertake short-term actions on the national territory, as well as the discovery and seizure of objects with the potential to cause offence and ammunition. The arrest has been validated by the judge for preliminary investigations by the Court of Potenza, which has ordered the placement of the boy in a community for precautionary reasons.
