What happened

According to the WHO’s Weekly Bulletin on Outbreaks and Other Emergencies, (Week 40: 30 September to 6 October 2024) a notification has been received from Guinea indicating a Yellow fever outbreak, which has affected two females: a 15-year-old and a 24-year-old. One of these individuals was pregnant. Both cases originate from the Labé region, specifically Balaya and Korbé, with the onset of symptoms occurring on 19 September and 16 September 2024, respectively. On October 5, 2024, blood samples were collected and tested at the reference laboratory in Conakry. The results indicated that the cases either tested positive for PCR or IgM. Consequently, both were confirmed as Yellow fever cases on October 8, 2024. To obtain further confirmation, samples were sent to the Institute Pasteur in Dakar on October 10, 2024.
