What happened

The Region of Sardinia is implementing another part of the overall strategy to deal with the influenza pandemic by signing a framework agreement with private pediatricians. The involvement of pediatricians in the initiative will entail providing supplementary activities to those conducted by Public Health Departments. As highlighted by Health Councillor Armando Bartolazzi, the vaccination of children represents a pivotal strategy for curbing the transmission of the virus and safeguarding vulnerable populations. The average number of doses available to each free-choice pediatrician is 150, with the quantity distributed according to the number of patients served. The total number of doses distributed to all pediatricians will not exceed 15,000. In recent weeks, a similar measure was enacted concerning the agreement on regional guidelines for general practitioners, which allocates 200,000 doses, with priority for vulnerable populations, including the elderly (over the age of 60) and patients with underlying health conditions.
