On Friday 8 November, 2024 the conference ‘CBRNe (Chemical-Biological-Radiological-Nuclear-Explosive) Events: Organisational and Clinical Aspects‘ will be held in Bergamo to analyse emerging scenarios and associated CBRNe risks, illustrating organisational strategies at national and European levels, and discussing clinical aspects in the management of this type of risk. The event will address a comprehensive range of threats resulting from human activity, including both intentional and unintentional incidents – i.e. accidents in chemical plants and on roads, as well as mistakes in the handling of hazardous substances. It will also look at planned threats with a military or terrorist purpose. Natural occurrences like earthquakes and floods are included. The conference will host several high-profile speakers, including military experts from the Defence and Security area of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, heads of the National Civil Protection Department and its European counterpart, the National Fire Brigade Corps, scholars of environmental issues, specialists in crisis communication and analysts from the academic world, among them lecturers from the international Master’s programme ‘Protection Against CBRNe Events’ at the University of Rome Tor Vergata.
