What happened

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed al-Sudani announced the elimination of the Islamic State (ISIS) military leader in his country. The man was killed in an operation conducted in the Hamrin Mountains, situated in the country’s northeast region. As stated by al-Sudani on a well-known social media platform, eight prominent leaders of the organization were also killed during the counter-terrorism operation executed by the Counter-Terrorism and National Security Service (CTS). No further details of the operation have yet been released.
