Leonardo presented “BriteStorm”, a new electronic warfare system designed to support the armed forces in operations against enemy Integrated Air Defence Systems (IADS). BriteStorm uses “stand-in-jamming” technology, which generates high-power interference to confuse enemy radars and protect friendly forces. The system is compatible with various drones and launched platforms, and implements advanced techniques to trick long-range radars. Developed in the UK and based on the DRFM (Digital Radio Frequency Memory) technology already used in the BriteCloud system, BriteStorm is capable of neutralising ground-based surveillance radars. The Royal Air Force has already tested the system successfully, and Leonardo sees the US Department of Defense as a potential customer, thanks to the flexibility and ease of product integration. The company says BriteStorm is also readily exportable to various markets, including Asia-Pacific and the Middle East.
