The Internet Archive, the largest digital archive in the world, has suffered a major attack. Initially, it was a DDoS attack, followed by a data breach that compromised the entire platform’s database. The cyber attacks began days ago, making the website unavailable. A pop-up on the web page reported the compromise of over 31 million accounts.
The hacker group SN-BLACKMETA has relaunched the news of the incident without assuming any responsibility. So far, no cyber gang has claimed the attack as its own.
According to one of the archivists of the digital platform, the motivation for this hacker attack is not clear. This event has however highlighted the importance of improving IT security to protect data.
