Gas pipeline explosion in Gallio, one dead

In Gallio (Vicenza) an explosion occurred on a gas pipeline in a stretch of road affected by some optical fiber installation works. It was one of the diggers used to install the fast internet connection that cut a pipe of methane gas medium pressure and caused the ignition of the flames, which followed the collapse of a house. One of the occupants, a 72-year-old man is reported missing under the rubble of the building. The fire brigade worked for hours to extinguish the flames and contain the tongues of fire that continued to escape from the exploded pipeline. The team USAR (Urban Search And Rescue) of the Veneto Fire Department was also on the spot to help search under the rubble. Investigations are currently underway to understand the exact dynamics of the event.
