Westinghouse has unveiled a nuclear specific generative artificial intelligence system that aims to improve the management of a nuclear reactor through its entire cycle, from its design and licensing to its operations. The IA works by allowing it’s customers to gain access to the company’s huge amount of proprietary industry innovation and knowledge, helping them in aspects such as optimising maintenance planning and providing operational teams with the right information at the right moment. According to Westinghouse Chief Technology Officer, this nuclear IA system use cases include “streamlining preventive plant maintenance and nuclear fuel safety, manufacturing and optimisation applications”.
