Two soldiers, including an officer, and three terrorists died in separate clashes in Jammu and Kashmir just before the Assembly elections. In Kishtwar, two military personnel were killed and two others wounded in a shooting that began during a joint army-police operation to search for terrorists in the Naidgham area. Meanwhile, in Baramulla, three terrorists were eliminated by security forces after being trapped in a building in Chak Tapper. Four soldiers were injured, two of whom died later due to the severity of their injuries. Operations continue as the region records violence in the run-up to the first elections in ten years.
