Between January 1 and September 10, 2024, Italy has confirmed 412 dengue cases. Out of these, 410 cases are linked to international travel, and two are identified as local transmissions. These details are outlined in the most recent Bulletin from the National Surveillance System for Arboviruses, issued by the Istituto Superiore di Sanità . The local cases were reported in the provinces of Reggio Emilia and Brescia. Both infected individuals are reported to be in good health. The number of cases of dengue reported in Italy this year (an increase of +88 compared to the previous bulletin, updated on 5 August, which reported 324 cases) was diagnosed in individuals with a median age of 40 years, with a slight majority of females (52%). The report indicates that there have been no fatalities. The regions most impacted include Lombardy, with 78 imported cases and one autochthonous case, Veneto with 71 imported cases, and Lazio with 68 imported cases. Following them are Emilia Romagna with 48 imported cases and one autochthonous case, Piedmont with 38 imported cases, and Tuscany with 34 imported cases. The majority of these cases are imported from Brazil.
