What happened

A 20-year-old Pakistani man was arrested on the 4th of September in Canada for plotting a mass shooting at a Jewish center in Brooklyn in the name of ISIS. The man began sharing ISIS propaganda videos and expressing his support for the terror group on social media last November, and in conversations with two undercover law enforcement officers, he said he was starting an offline cell of ISIS to carry out attacks. During these conversations, he discussed his need for AR-style assault rifles, ammunition, and other materials and shared details regarding his plan to travel from Canada to the U.S. and when the attack would be carried out, either on the Oct. 7 anniversary or on Oct. 11, which is the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur. In his messages, he also sent photos of the specific area in the Jewish center in Brooklyn that he would target.
