During a wedding in Ulea, Spain, on July 6, 2024, forty of the two hundred guests fell ill after consuming the food served at the buffet. Guests began to fall ill around midnight, exhibiting symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea. Around 3 a.m., following the hospitalization of approximately half of the affected individuals, emergency services were alerted to the outbreak, resulting in the dispatch of at least two ambulances. Eleven guests received treatment at the scene, and twelve others were taken to the hospital for further care. None of them are serious and they are all recovering. The causes of the collective sickness are currently being investigated by the Regional Ministry of Health through its Food Safety and Zoonoses Service.
