In Rice Township, Sandusky County, a fire was reported in an RV on the westbound lane of the Ohio Turnpike, near the Mile 89 marker. Fire Chief Dean Schneider of Sandusky Township stated that the vehicle carried around 32,000 pounds of liquid organic peroxide. This highly volatile substance can produce explosive gases when heated or ignited. After the fire was extinguished, the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Milan Post and Schneider confirmed there were no injuries. The incident is not expected to have any lasting effects on the local environment or the health of nearby residents.
