What happened

A woman has died in Midtown after being exposed to ‘hazardous materials’, police said. The victim, 35, was found unresponsive in the back of a vehicle at East 56th Street and Sutton Place at 11:23 a.m. on March 5 in Midtown, New York. The woman was pronounced dead by EMS, and a large emergency response team arrived at the scene. First responders, wearing Hazmat suits and using Geiger counters to detect radiation, searched the vehicle while police cordoned off the area from the public. The police found a number of liquid chemicals inside the vehicle, which they believe caused the woman’s death. It is unclear whether the death was intentional or accidental, or exactly what chemicals were found in the car.
