An 80-year-old patient who recently contracted the West Nile virus passed away in Pordenone. Medical staff reports indicate that the elderly woman had not traveled, suggesting the infection was autochthonous. After her hospitalization, local health authorities took steps to prevent further spread of the virus. At present, no additional infections have been reported in the region. Nonetheless, health surveillance measures have facilitated the identification of the virus within the territories of the former provinces of Pordenone and Udine.
