Several humanitarian organizations in Yemen, such as CARE International, the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), and the Saudi Arabian King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, have been victims of cyberattacks by a pro-Houthi terrorist group known as OilAlpha. OilAlpha used SpyNote (also known as SpyMax), an app that can collect account credentials from humanitarian organizations. These attacks aim to use the stolen data to profit from taxation and resell relief materials. Furthermore, the criminal organization seeks to limit the circulation and distribution of international humanitarian aid.
