What happened

The authorities have declared that a passenger from Rome arrived in Montreal with a contagious disease. Public health officials stated that other passengers on Air Transat flight TS403 may have been exposed to the virus. This is the second case of measles among international travelers, following an earlier case involving a flight from Amsterdam.

These new cases are concerning because measles was declared eradicated in Canada in 1998. However, in recent years, 51 cases of the disease have been detected in Quebec.
