What happened

The well-known Japanese company Fujitsu recently declared that in March 2024 it was the victim of a cyber attack and that there was an exfiltration of customers’ personal data and commercial activities.
The company announced that it was not ransomware but another sophisticated malware capable of evading detection during data exfiltration. Indeed, the malware used by cybercriminals avoided detection through camouflage. Investigations carried out by Fujitsu revealed that the advanced malware initially affected a single computer and then spread across the internal network to other company computers.
The IT company did not report improper use of the stolen data. Additionally, Fujitsu has raised the bar on cybersecurity by updating malware detection tools and introducing new monitoring rules for all company computers.
