The West Friuli Health Board has reported that an elderly patient was diagnosed with an established case of West Nile virus infection on July 16, presenting with fever and neurological symptoms. The patient’s overall condition is critical, and the prognosis remains undisclosed at this time. The health authorities have declared that the patient had no reported travel to other regions, thus classifying the case as autochthonous. Following the positive diagnosis, the local Prevention Department promptly initiated an investigation.
