What happened

As detailed in the WHO’s “Weekly Bulletin on Outbreaks and other Emergencies” (week 26: 24 to 30 June 2024), 385 suspected cases of Acute Flaccid Paralysis (AFP) were confirmed as being caused by the circulation of vaccine-derived poliovirus type 2 (cVDPV2). The confirmed cases were reported in the provinces of Lunda Norte (6), Luanda (2), Huambo (1), and Moxico (1). Four of these were detected in children under five years of age, while six were identified in the environment.
