What happened

Airbus has secured a 2.1-billion-euro SATCOMBw 3 contract from the German Armed Forces to design, integrate, test, and deliver two new military GEO (geostationary orbit) telecommunications satellites over the next 15 years, as well as upgrading the existing ground segment. Media reports state that the 15-year SATCOMBw 3 contract encompasses geostationary satellites, a ground segment, launch services, and operational support.
