What happened

According to the Turkish Defence Ministry, a Turkish soldier was killed and another wounded in a counter-terrorism operation in northern Iraq near the Turkish border. It has been reported that an improvised explosive device was planted by members of a separatist terrorist group in the Operation Claw-Lock region. While the perpetrators have not been identified, it is known that the PKK is active in the area. The Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) has been responsible for the deaths of over 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants, during its nearly forty-year campaign against Turkey.
