What happened

According to Police Regional Office in Zamboanga Peninsula, an explosion occurred during a disposal operation of confiscated firecrackers, in Zone 2, Cabatangan, Zamboanga City. The operation was carried out by a joint team, which included the Regional Explosive and Canine Unit 9 headed by PCMS Elton F. Taluban, and members from the Philippine Marines, Bureau of Fire Protection, and Philippine Coast Guard. The disposal resulted in the premature detonation of firecrackers, injuring 19 law enforcers and damaging several vehicles. These firecrackers were among those found inside a firecracker warehouse that exploded on June 29 at Marquez Drive, Barangay Tetuan, killing five people and injuring 38 others.
